Gymleader crew corner - Say talofa to John Nansen one of Gymleader’s most experienced staff members who has been welding since 1984. Johnny arrived to New Zealand after 10 years working with the Samoan Government Water Dept developing a wide range of skills.

Johnny’s family landed in New Zealand where he spent sometime in Wellington before working with Coco Wire and making shopping trolley’s for Countdown supermarkets here in Auckland. His nephew Otto who at the time was working for Gymleader, told his uncle about a vacancy here at the company and as they say, the rest is history.

Johnny’s job, when he first started at Gymleader 14 years ago was making Gymleader trampolines and he states they used to manufacture around 100 units a week back in the day. The Gymleader trampolines were shipped off shore to the Netherlands and made to the highest standard from the best materials. However with customers changing and the company evolving with new products, Johnny has had to learn a new range of skill sets and there is not one piece of Gymleader equipment today that this man has not made across our in-house manufactured product range.

In 2008 Johnny was the first welder fabricator to manufacture our famous basketball ceiling hung units here at Gymleader and has been producing them as our in house expert since then - currently he’s working on 24 units for a big install project in Christchurch.

During his time he has helped train many of the team and is always the first man on the factory floor.

The best thing Johnny likes about the Gymleader is the owner “he’s happy” and the people.

Great having Johnny as part of our team we love the passion.
